Reds verses Rangers Thursday June 15th

The Rangers went to work right in the first inning with two runs and 4 hits. The Reds followed up by scoring 2 and leaving one man on base. The second inning put three Ranger batters on base sending two of them home, with the Rangers leading 4 to 2. The Reds second time at bat yielded only one base hit and no runs. In the third inning the Reds defense kept their cool after the Rangers loaded the bases but failed to bring home any runners. Reds managed only one base hit this inning. Going into the fourth inning the Reds knew they need to keep the Rangers from increasing their lead and succeeded thanks to a great play by the pitcher throwing the base runner out at first. The pressure was on the Reds batters going into the bottom of the forth inning down by two runs. Seth leaded off managing a base hit. Linford hit a fly ball that was nicely fielded by the Rangers short stop. Ryans base hit advanced Seth to third base and Malcolm ended the game with a home run delivering another win for the Reds. Great baseball all around!

Final score: Reds (5) Rangers (4)

Yankees versus Marlins Tuesday June 13

The tone of the game was set in the first inning, as the Yankees hit the ball hard and plated two runs and the Marlins saw the hustling Jimmy White tagged out trying to score in the bottom half of the first. The second inning was just as exciting, as the Yankees added three more runs and Hunter von Tersch Pohrer was tagged out at home after drilling a shot to right. The Yankees’ scoring came to a close in the third when they put up an insurance run, and then the Marlins (as is typical for them) woke up and decided it was time to break out the lumber. In their half-inning they put up a five spot, setting the stage for the dramatic fourth inning. Asa McNaughton led off with a single and ended up on second on an overthrow. Malik Onyeali showed tremendous focus and lined a shot to center that drove in Asa to tie the score. That concluded the scoring and the game ended Yankees 6, Marlins 6. Late breaking news: Marcellus Dillard, Calvin Hill, and Daniel King of the Yankees deserve special mention for the rocket home runs they hit to center.

Final score: Yankees (6) Marlins (6)

Reds verses Yankees Thursday June 6th

We all knew from the start that it would be a close game and the excitement was running high as the Reds sent in their first batters to bring home two runs. The Yankees followed with one run ending the first inning. For the Reds the second inning was a repeat of the first with two runs scoring. The Reds showed good defense and kept the Yankees from gaining on their 4 to 1 lead. The third inning saw the low scoring game turn around. Balls were hit hard and the base runners rounded the bases ending the inning with each team picking up five runs. The Reds were still ahead 9 to 6. The forth inning started with the Reds adding one run and going into the outfield in an attempt to hold on to their 10 to 6 lead. The Yankees were not giving up with the intensity of the play very high on both sides. Yankees batters succeeded in putting runners on base and scoring four more runs to end the game with a tie score of 10 to 10 - what a nail-biter. Congratulations to the coaches for keeping there cool and the players for showing all of us fabulous baseball.

Final score: Reds (10) Yankees (10)
